‘Stay Intrepid:’ Touring Brand Continues its Expansion into Accommodations

Relaxing at Arkaba Homestead.

Intrepid Travel has launched ‘Stay Intrepid’, a new brand extension featuring a curated collection of six company-owned properties that offer experience-led, community-driven stays.

The collection includes five properties across Australia, as well as a riad in Morocco, with plans to grow into new destinations in the coming years.

Intrepid says the accommodations, which can be booked independent of Intrepid tours, are distinct in character but united by the company’s locally-led, responsible travel ethos. Key elements of the Intrepid philosophy include supporting local businesses, celebrating regional cuisine and driving positive impact through partnerships with Intrepid’s non-profit, The Intrepid Foundation.

Australia’s Daintree Ecolodge.

The current Stay Intrepid portfolio includes:

Daintree Ecolodge on Eastern Kuku Yalanji Country in Queensland’s ancient Daintree Rainforest.

Edge of the Bay on Palawa Country along Tasmania’s Freycinet coastline.

Arkaba Homestead on Adnyamathanha Country in South Australia’s Flinders Ranges.

Bamarru Plains on Limilngan and neighbouring Aboriginal Lands – Northern Territory.

Ooraminna Homestead on Arrernte Country outside Alice Springs.

Riad Joudour in the Marrakech medina in Morocco.

Each property will offer guests a series of curated experiences connecting travellers with nature and local culture.

Riad Joudour in Morocco.

These include:

  • First Nations guided cultural walks and basket weaving at the Daintree Ecolodge, a boutique retreat with treetop bayans nestled in the heart of the World Heritage listed Daintree Rainforest.
  • Immersive bush walks and safari drives at South Australia’s Arkaba Homestead in the Flinders Ranges highlight native wildlife and ongoing conservation efforts.
  • A cooking class at Riad Joudour in Morocco in partnership with Intrepid Foundation partner Amal Association, which provides culinary training to help women in Morocco improve their employment opportunities and livelihoods.

Richmond Sear, General Manager of Accommodation Australia at Intrepid Travel said:

“Stay Intrepid represents an exciting next step in our ambition to bring immersive travel experiences to more people around the world. It opens up new opportunities to create stays that are experience-led and rooted in community, aligning with our mission to create positive change through the joy of travel. By working closely with people and partners in each destination, we’ve developed unique experiences that deepen travellers’ connection with nature and local culture,, while providing an exceptional base for exploration and relaxation.”

The company plans to grow its global accommodation portfolio to include up to 20 Stay Intrepid properties by 2028, with a focus on immersive, hyper-local experiences.
