Intrepid Travel will restart trips to Egypt on April 1.
The company, like many other travel providers, canceled or postponed all trips to Egypt two weeks ago at the start of the Iran conflict. While Egypt operations will resume on April 1, trips in Jordan and Oman remain canceled until at least April 15.
The tour company will still allow customers who are unable to reach their Egypt departures due to flight cancellations caused by airspace closures to receive a 100% credit for their trip. It is also allowing all clients to rebook to another destination, receive a 100% credit of the land components, request a refund less 20% unrecoverable costs, or receive a full refund if they fall under EMEA region regulations.
Since Intrepid’s initial Egypt announcement, 161 American travelers have canceled their trips, with almost all cancellations affecting departures scheduled from March through May. The restart allows Americans to head back to Egypt and support the local communities that Intrepid engages on its tours, said Leigh Barnes, president of the Americas.
“Travel has always been one of the most powerful ways to support local communities,” Barnes said. “Being able to return to Egypt means visitors can experience an incredible destination while helping bring much-needed income back to the guides, small businesses, and families who rely on tourism.”
