Sandals Resorts Officially Opens Newest Property in Barbados
by Jessica Montevago /Sandals Royal Barbados welcomed its first guests this week, debuting the brand’s first rooftop infinity pool.
The all-suite resort features 222 concierge and butler-level suites, including Sandals’ signature Rondoval, Millionaire Butler, Skypool and Crystal Lagoon Swim-Up suite concepts.
The property has three new restaurants: American Tavern, which offers casual dining; Asian fusion Chi, with design inspired by traditional tea rooms; and Butch’s Steak and Seafood, a traditional a la carte steak and seafood house. There are also French, Italian, and Caribbean eateries on-site.
The rooftop infinity pool, surrounded with chaise lounge seating, is part of an entertainment complex, which will also offer live music, a French bistro, and a cantilevered cocktail lounge.
Other entertainment options include an entertainment pavilion with a four-lane bowling alley, living room, and game room.
Sandals Royal Barbados features five bars, including their first beer garden; and the Lovers’ Lane Bar, which offers a selection of international, local and craft beers.
The company’s Chairman and Founder Gordon “Butch” Stewart said Sandals Royal Barbados was designed to complement the adjacent 280-room Sandals Barbados, with guests staying at either property having the opportunity to enjoy the amenities of both.
Other exclusive amenities on the property include the brand’s first barber shop; a full-service, 15,000-square-foot Red Lane Spa; and for guests in select top-category suites, the resort provides private chauffeured Rolls-Royce airport transfers.
The resort also features a Beach House Resort Shop, which Sandals describes as “a new retail brand curated to bring together the elements of the Caribbean featuring sophisticated resort wear, home goods, local craft, and provisions.”
Sandals Resorts also announced it opened its 12 over-water bungalows at Jamaica’s Sandals South Coast. Located on a heart-shaped pier, each bungalow offers a tranquility soaking tub, a patio and sun deck, outdoor shower, a walk-in rain shower in the bathroom, hammocks, and glass-vision floor panels.
The resort also unveiled its over-the-water bar and wedding chapel, with a glass floor aisle. Other renovations include four new dining options: Sushi on the Sand, Jerk Shack, Schooner’s Caribbean restaurant and a beach picnic, which is an option for butler guests.
