9 Facebook Groups Travel Advisors Should Join

It’s hard for a travel advisor to know everything, yet staying informed is crucial to planning the best trips for clients. One of the best ways to ensure you have access to the most up-to-date knowledge is by joining Facebook groups created specifically for advisors. Essentially built-in networking communities, these groups offer a wealth of resources, recommendations, peer support and more.

Here are nine Facebook groups every advisor can benefit from.

1. Luxury Travel Social Media & Marketing Strategies for Travel Professionals

Though this is the Facebook group for members of the Luxury Travel University, you do not have to be a paid member to join. Though the group’s title indicates its purpose is to share social media and marketing strategies, 75% of the posts tend to be advisors seeking advice on hotels, DMCs, and other suppliers. Member responses tend to be on point, with lots of luxury travel experts sharing their knowledge. The group was created in 2017, has about 51,000 members and typically sees 90+ posts a month.

The group is run by Angela Hughes, owner of Luxury Travel University. She frequently posts about her upcoming FAM trips and does occasional Lives with various travel partners.

2. The Resorts of the Riviera Maya

This Facebook group, which was created in June 2020, is for travel advisors to discuss anything related to the Riviera Maya, as well as Cancun, Playa Mujeres, Isla Mujeres, Holbox, and Cozumel. Topics covered include resorts, hotels, excursions, tours, restaurants, transfers, and more. It has about 23,000 members and sees about 1,000+ new posts each month. Posts typically revolve around asking for help selecting a resort for their clients, and advisors sharing their own stays or reviews from their clients.

Members of the group also have access to an 18-page guide full of resort contacts, transfer company lists, top 10 lists, airport arrival info, and more. Members can also take advantage of the administrator’s free “Explore More Mexico” 101 class.

3. Travel Advisors Selling the Caribbean

This active Facebook group is chock full of information for travel advisors selling the Caribbean. Posts include questions about resorts and attractions, as well as Caribbean-related breaking news, updates on hotel refurbishments, new attractions, and when a supplier sales rep is traveling around the U.S. Created in 2019, the group has 17,000 members ad typically sees 300+ posts a month.

4. Social Media Content for Travel Agents

Advisors in search of help with their social media content and strategy will find both on this moderately active group that launched in 2019. Members can expect to find free graphics, captions, and video to share on their own social media channels, as well as access to live workshops on social media strategy. The group has some 9,800 members and sees about 30 posts a month.

The group is run by Nikita Brown, the founder of the Travel Agent Collective.

5. Travel Advisors Selling Europe

This relatively new Facebook group serves as a hub for advisors already selling or looking to sell trips to European countries. Members share hotel recommendations, reviews, and photos, as well as opinions on DMCs, attraction suppliers, and more. Started in 2023, the group has a little over 6,000 members and generally sees 190 posts per month.

The group is associated with the Travel Advisor Resource Center but you do not need to purchase services in order to join.

6. Travel Agents Helping Travel Agents

The Facebook group for the “travel mentor society” is designed to help “travel agents from all walks of life” to be more successful. The group is dedicated to helping advisors get guidance on booking, marketing strategies, lead generation, networking, and idea sharing. The group was created in 2022. It has 590 members and typically sees about 75 posts a month.

7. Disability Travel Group

Not specifically for travel advisors, this Facebook group is nevertheless full of useful information for anyone with clients that have some form of disability. Questions cover air, hotel, transfers, and more, with respondents always ready with recommendations. The group, which was created in 2014, has some 7,000 members and typically sees 115 posts in a month. Members do include several travel advisors, as well as travel writers including Cory Lee, a prominent accessible-travel writer.

8. Suppliers groups

Supplier Facebook groups are a mix of those for travel advisors and those for guests. The latter are much more common, particularly for cruise lines. There are dozens of FB groups dedicated to specific cruise lines – and even cruise ships. Though no promotion is permitted in these groups, travel advisors can answer questions, and you get an unfiltered look at what current passengers think of itineraries, onboard service, food quality, rule changes, and more.

A handful of suppliers have Facebook groups specifically for travel advisors, as well, including Collette, AmaWaterways, and Lindblad Expeditions.

It may also be worth asking your BDMs if they have a Facebook group worth joining. For instance, senior director of sales at Riverside Luxury Cruises, hosts the Join Michelle from Riverside FB group and posts updates, articles, photos, and more.

9. Consortia/hosts

If there’s one Facebook group that every travel advisor should be a member of it’s the one for their host and/or consortia. These groups are among the best sources of recommendations, business planning and marketing advice, and all-around support.
