Virtuoso has appointed travel industry veteran Thatcher Brown to the newly created role of Chief Development Officer, effective immediately.

Reporting to President Brad Bourland, Brown joins the executive leadership team alongside Chief Commercial Officer Tristan Dowell. Under the new division of responsibilities, Dowell will identify commercial expansion targets, while Brown will build the operational capabilities, structures, and strategic partnerships required to pursue them.

Brown brings nearly 40 years of luxury hospitality and cruise experience to the position, having held executive leadership roles at Four Seasons, Fairmont, Jumeirah Group, Explora Journeys, and Dream Cruises. He previously served as Virtuoso’s Senior Vice President of Global Products in 2024 before returning to the organization as a special advisor.

“Virtuoso has built an extraordinary global network, and there is still enormous opportunity ahead of us,” Bourland said. “Some of that opportunity lies within the relationships and communities we already serve. Some of it lies beyond the edges of what the industry looks like today.”

“Thatcher brings a rare combination of curiosity, judgment, and execution,” Bourland added. “As we look to the future, his leadership will help us to further expand how Virtuoso creates value for our members, partners, and travelers around the world.”

Brown also serves as a Senior Tourism Industry Fellow at Florida International University’s Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management and is a Trustee of North Country School and Camp Treetops in Lake Placid, New York.
