Riviera Travel Names New Group CEO
by Briana Bonfiglio
Matt Luscombe
European river cruise operator Riviera Travel has named Matt Luscombe its new Group CEO. He will step into the role on Jan. 1, 2026.
Luscombe succeeds Phil Hullah, who will remain with the company for the first part of the year to ensure a smooth transition. Hullah will also remain a significant shareholder in the business thereafter.
“It’s been an incredible privilege to lead Riviera,” Hullah said. “I am profoundly grateful to our dedicated staff and senior leadership team for their unwavering commitment, and to our loyal customers and channel partners for the trust they place in us year after year. Riviera is in a great position, and I am confident the business will continue to reach new heights under Matt’s leadership.”
Luscombe brings strong leadership experience across travel, leisure, and hospitality sectors. Most recently, he was CEO of Freemans Event Partners. He was also previously CEO of Cycas Hospitality, one of Europe’s largest hotel management companies, and chief commercial officer for Europe & North Africa at InterContinental Hotels Group, where he worked for a decade.
“I am truly honored to be taking on the role of Group CEO and excited to work alongside Riviera’s exceptional team of passionate professionals,” Luscombe said. “This is a pivotal moment for the business as we continue to expand across all product lines and elevate the customer experience even further. I look forward to building on the strong foundations laid in recent years and driving the next phase of Riviera’s growth and success.”
The appointment comes as Riviera Travel, which has a fleet of 13 custom-designed ships sailing Europe’s waterways, expands in the North American market. The company recently opened a North American headquarters in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
