GDSs Ink New Round of Content Agreements With Suppliers

by Michèle McDonald  January 28, 2013

Several GDSs have signed new content agreements with airlines and other suppliers, including Amadeus with Air France-KLM and Travelport with Panama-based Copa Airlines.

Amadeus Signs Air France-KLM Agreement . . .
Amadeus signed a new full-content agreement with Air France-KLM that includes Air France’s New Economy Offer. It includes the Classic coach fare and a new stripped-down MiNi fare. The MiNi fare does not allow passengers to select seats in advance or to earn frequent flyer miles. Non-elite travelers who book the fare must pay to check a bag. The Amadeus agreement also includes KLM’s Economy Comfort seating option and Air France’s Seat +.

. . . And Extends Agreement With Alitalia
Amadeus and Alitalia signed a long-term extension of their content agreement, providing agency subscribers worldwide with access to the full range of the carrier’s fares, schedules and inventory. Alitalia also expanded the distribution of its ancillary services, initially available only in Italy, to Spain, using the Amadeus Ancillary Services solution. Payment for the services is made via the electronic miscellaneous document.

Travelport Signs With Panama-Based Carrier . . .
Travelport signed a new global full-content agreement with Copa Airlines, a Panamanian carrier that serves North, Central and South America. The multi-year agreement provides access to the airline’s full range of published fares and inventory for all Galileo and Worldspan subscribers. It also includes a common framework to provide enhanced Copa Airlines functionality to Travelport’s travel agents, such as the addition of merchandising services. Copa Airlines will also subscribe to Travelport Sponsored Flights Advertising.

. . . And With Virgin Australia
Travelport signed a new full-content agreement with Virgin Australia, providing its subscribers worldwide with access to the airline’s full published inventory, including public and private fares.

Sabre and Royal Caribbean Sign Distribution Agreement
Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. signed a multiyear distribution agreement with Sabre Travel Network, making all Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity and Azamara Club Cruises’ fares and schedules available in the Sabre GDS. Sabre and Royal Caribbean also expanded their relationship to include travel agents in Mexico, who will be able to make bookings on the three brands through the Sabre Red Workspace.

Abacus Int’l in Distribution Pact with Regent Airways
Abacus International signed a two-year distribution agreement with Regent Airways, a Bangladeshi domestic carrier that operates Bombardier Dash-8-Q300 aircraft. Its current network includes flights to Dhaka, Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Jessore and Sylhet.

Travelport Hotel Booking Engine Expands Accommodation Offers
Travelport Rooms and More, the GDS company’s hotel booking engine for travel agents, added accommodation offers from the Huntington Travel Group, a major full-service wholesaler in Canada. The move adds 65,000 hotels and holiday property offers, for a total of 740,000 accommodation offers on the portal.
