Sabre Acquires Travel Technology Company Farelogix

Sabre Acquires Travel Technology Company Farelogix

Sabre says conversational commerce will drive travel decision making.

Sabre today announced the acquisition of Miami-based travel software company, Farelogix, which provides New Distribution Capabilities (NDC) order delivery services to major airlines around the world.

Sabre said the acquisition is aimed at accelerating its own “end-to-end NDC-enabled retailing, distribution and fulfillment solutions,” as well as complimenting its current technology.

“By integrating Farelogix’s capabilities into Sabre’s leading airline technology platform, we’ll be able to offer the innovative and comprehensive solutions that airlines require, backed by best-in-class technology and the deep expertise that our teams bring to market,” Sabre CEO and President Sean Menke said in a statement.

The $360 million deal is still subject to approval from regulatory groups and is expected to be completed in late 2018 or early 2019.

On its website, Farelogix boasts that it is at the head of driving a transformation in travel selling from “a commoditized selling approach to an emerging retailing and merchandising landscape.” It currently offers its technology to all sales channels, including agency GDSs, as well as airline websites, airport check-in kiosks, mobile applications, and more.

“Today’s announcement is a natural evolution of the successful, ongoing collaboration between our two companies,” said Jim Davidson, CEO of Farelogix. “Sabre shares our vision for innovation and has the leading technology, resources, and global presence to help us scale our solutions and grow our customer base.”

Sabre is currently in the process of rolling out its new Beyond NDC program, the company’s initiative to improve Sabre for airlines, travel agencies and consumers. The company released its list of new partners for its Beyond NDC program earlier this year, including American Airlines, American Express Global Business Travel, Carlson Wagonlit Travel, and Flight Centre Travel Group.
