National Geographic Expeditions and G Adventures announced 18 new tours for 2017, including itineraries in Namibia, Japan, France and Canada, as well as U.S. historic cities and national parks.
Highlights include seven new Africa itineraries, including Wonders of Namibia, which features a lecture and guided game drive with the Cheetah Conservation Fund. A new tour to Japan has travelers making sushi with a local chef, watching an ancient martial arts performance and learning Zen calligraphy.
The Canadian Polar Bear Experience lets travelers see polar bears in their natural habitat with an expert from Polar Bears International. In the United States, the Discover California's National Parks trip visits Death Valley, Yosemite and Sequoia National Park, and features a behind-the-scenes visit to the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
With an emphasis on discovery, storytelling, local immersion and social good, Journeys tours combine free time and flexibility with the structure and security that come with group travel.
The two companies are now offering 83 itineraries together. Prices for the new tours range from $2,299 for the eight-day “Paris & Normandy” to $5,999 for the six-day “Canadian Polar Bear Experience.” Departures begin April 2017.
