Alaska Volcano Causes Flight Cancellations
by Anna Gleksman /Flights to Alaska are being disrupted by the Pavlof Volcano on the Aleutian Islands, 625 miles southwest of Anchorage, which has been erupting since Sunday. One of the most active volcanoes in Alaska, Pavlof sent an ash cloud soaring 37,000 feet into the air.
On Monday and Tuesday Alaska Airlines was forced to cancel more than 69 flights, but the eruption began to slow on Tuesday evening.
Alaska Airlines is waiving rebooking fees for clients flying to and from the affected areas, and urging clients to check their flights before departing for the airport.
