After bringing back direct flights to Caracas (CCS) and Maracaibo (MAR) earlier this year, American Airlines is adding a third direct route from the U.S. to Venezuela.
American said on Friday that it would add its first-ever service to Barcelona, Venezuela (BLA), in the northeast of the country. American will fly the service three times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays starting on Jan. 15, 2027, using an Embraer 175 aircraft.
With that service, American will fly 24 total weekly flights between the U.S. and Venezuela, maintaining its position as the sole U.S. carrier serving the country.
The U.S. State Department currently has a Level 3: Reconsider Travel warning out for Venezuela because of risk of crime, kidnapping, and natural disasters. Anzoátegui State, which includes Barcelona as its capitol, is not included in that warning and not one of the regions that the State Department recommends staying away from.
