Fiji Airways Elevates Inflight Experience

by Marsha Mowers  July 22, 2025
Fiji Airways Elevates Inflight Experience

“The little airline that could” – Fiji Airways – is introducing newly revamped onboard experiences across all cabins, with a continued focus on local and sustainable, food and drink.

In a press release, the airline says the update “signals a bold step forward in its commitment to exceptional Fijian hospitality, service and world class excellence.”

“Fijian hospitality is at the heart of what we do” said Andre Viljoen, CEO and Managing Director, Fiji Airways. “This next chapter elevates that promise. With the initial introduction of our new Pacific Rim menu and on-demand dining, we’re delivering a fine-dining restaurant-quality experience in the sky – One that is authentically Fijian, thoughtfully crafted, and aligned with the evolving needs of today’s traveller.”

The newly introduced menu reflects Fiji’s unique position at the crossroads of Asia, Oceania and North America. It blends fresh, bold flavours from Southeast Asia, contemporary Australia, and the Pacific Islands, showcasing local Fijian ingredients with an emphasis on sustainable sourcing.

Signature dishes in Business Class include Grilled Mahi Mahi with Prawn Chilli Oil, Hamachi Crudo with Octopus and Ponzu, (astarter with Fijian sea grapes (nama) and herbs), Fijian Chicken Curry: a coconut-simmered comfort dish reflecting Indo-Fijian heritage and Kumquat Cheesecake. Economy Class has also been refreshed, with updated meal options, a new mocktail and cocktail offering, hot chocolate and new snack and beverage choices available throughout the journey. Special dietary requirements can be pre-arranged, ensuring inclusivity across all cabins.

Travel Market Report Canada spoke with Fiji Airways’ Jon Murray Account Manager, Canada and Vara Natuilagilagi, Senior Manager, Global Sales, during the Fiji Tourism Exchange (FTE) in May about their plans to attract more Canadians. Part of that plan includes growing partnerships with key operators.

“We’re restructuring our routes a bit so that with the schedule from Canada, will allow our tour operators to build an itinerary that includes Australia and New Zealand regional routes,” Natuilagilagi told us.

Fiji Airways earned the moniker “little airline that could” within the industry for its set of moves to enhance its inflight service as part of a broader set of ‘game-changing’ strategies that were introduced to place Fiji’s national carrier shoulder to shoulder with the best airlines in the world.

From its hubs at Nadi and Suva International Airports, Fiji Airways and Fiji Link serve 101 destinations in over 14 countries (including code-share).

Destinations include Fiji, Australia, New Zealand, the US, Canada and the as well as UK, HongKong (SARChina), Singapore, India, Japan, China, Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu, Kiribati, Vanuatu and Solomon Islands.

The Fiji Airways Group brings in 70 percent of all visitors who fly to Fiji, employs over 2000 employees, and earned revenues of over FJD$1.7 billion (USD $770m) in 2023.

“We fly for Fiji,” explains Viljoen.. “As the national carrier, we recognize the profound role we play in connecting Fiji to the world, and sharing the unique warmth and happiness that only Fiji offers. Through our strategic investments in our food, beverage, service training, and sustainable sourcing of materials, we’re bringing that happiness in every journey.”
