JetBlue Strikes Deal with Amazon for Faster Inflight Wi-Fi

JetBlue will become the first airline to partner with Amazon for improved in-flight Wi-Fi.

JetBlue and Amazon announced the partnership on Sept. 4, 2025. Starting in early 2027, JetBlue will install the Project Kuiper satellite broadband technology on select aircraft, enhancing its free Fly-Fi service.

As more and more U.S. airlines introduce free Wi-Fi for its members, JetBlue is evolving its own industry-leading service. The airline introduced Fly-Fi in 2013, and remains the only major U.S. airline to offer free, high-speed Wi-Fi on every aircraft in its fleet.

JetBlue’s partnership with Project Kuiper marks a major step forward for in-flight Wi-Fi connectivity. This next-gen satellite connectivity promises faster speeds and more reliability—delivered to its customers for free.

“Our agreement with Project Kuiper marks an exciting leap forward for us as the hands-down leader in onboard connectivity,” said Marty St. George, president of JetBlue. “Whether it’s binge-watching a favorite show, staying connected with loved ones, or wrapping up a work project, we’re always looking for ways to make our customers’ time in the air as connected and productive as they want it to be.”

The Kuiper low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite network operates on hundreds of LEO satellites operates much closer to Earth—between 367 and 391 miles up—providing significantly lower latency than traditional geostationary systems. According to Amazon, the technology is capable of delivering streaming-quality performance with download speeds of up to 1 Gbps, ideal for video conferencing, real-time browsing, and entertainment at 35,000 feet.
