You Can Now Enroll in TSA PreCheck at Some CLEAR Airport Locations

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is partnering with CLEAR to add PreCheck enrollment to three CLEAR airport locations.

The first trio of airports are Orlando International Airport (MCO), Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), and Sacramento International Airport (SMF). All three airports will offer daily enrollment from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. local time, except for SMF, which will offer it those times on Monday through Sunday and then on Saturday until 6 p.m.

Each of the CLEAR locations at those airports will have dedicated PreCheck enrollment pods that will not only allow for enrollment but will allow current PreCheck members to renew their membership at those locations.

The goal, according to the TSA, is to make it easier to enroll in PreCheck, which is one of the TSA’s trusted traveler programs that allows members to wear their shoes, belts, and light jackets through screening, and keep their laptops and 3-1-1 liquids in their carry-on bags. The program launched in 2013 and now includes 19 million members.

According to the TSA, wait times are typically under 10 minutes at PreCheck lanes.

“The TSA PreCheck trusted traveler program enables vetted, low-risk travelers to move through security more efficiently,” said TSA Administrator David Pekoske. “Additional enrollment providers make it easier for the public to enroll and enjoy a seamless travel experience.”

With CLEAR, TSA now has three official partners for its PreCheck enrollment. The other two are biometric and cryptography company IDEMIA and security company TELOS.
