Norwegian Becomes Latest Cruise Line to Skip Turkey
Norwegian Cruise Line has suspended all calls to Turkish ports through 2016 because of concerns over “the safety and security of our guests and crew,” it said in a statement today. All three Norwegian brands—NCL, Oceania Cruises, and Regent Seven Seas Cruises—will skip calls to all Turkish port.
Norwegian is informing guests of the itinerary changes and will update its websites with revised itineraries soon. It said it will continue to monitor the situation and will make “itinerary adjustments as appropriate.”
Earlier this week, MSC Cruises canceled its stops in Istanbul and Izmir because of security concerns, and last week Crystal Cruises said it will skip two upcoming calls in Turkish ports.
