Wyndham Garden Montecristi has opened in the Dominican Republic. It is the first Wyndham Garden hotel in the country.
The four-level, 60-room hotel features a swimming pool, a gym with training mirrors, a restaurant, a lobby bar, and co-working spaces. The opening is part of Wyndham’s plan to build 18 new hotels in the country with its construction partner Grupo De Valle by 2027.
“We believe national travelers will continue seeking unique experiences and destinations within the Dominican Republic,” said Edward De Valle, CEO of Grupo De Valle, a leading hotel and real estate development company in the Dominican Republic. “Our expanded presence in the Dominican Republic will enable us to welcome new generations of guests to enjoy all that Wyndham has to offer.”
Wyndham most recently opened a Super 8 in Manzanillo in December 2022. Both the Supepr 8 and Wyndham Gardens are located in the Montecristi area of the Dominican Republic. Between its several brands; including Ramada by Wyndham, Super 8 by Wyndham, Trademark Collection, and Registry Collection; Wyndham operates 14 hotels in the country.
“These newest openings are indicative of the long-term potential we see in the Dominican Republic and reinforce Wyndham’s continued commitment to bringing our globally recognized brands to key markets around the globe,“ said Doug Smith, vice president of development at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. “Introducing the Wyndham Garden brand in the Dominican Republic delivers on our promise of making hotel travel possible for all.”
Wyndham Hotels & Resorts celebrated the grand opening of the first Wyndam Garden in the country with a ribbon cutting ceremony, which was attended by Dominican Republican President Luis Abinader, who stressed the importance of the tourism industry for creating jobs and development opportunities in the country.
