Flair Launches Cargo Operations Across Canadian Network

Flair Airlines is expanding beyond passenger travel with the launch of cargo operations, using available space aboard its existing aircraft to transport goods across Canada and from select international markets.

The new service allows the carrier to move domestic freight throughout its network while also supporting northbound shipments into Canada from international destinations, including produce and general freight from Kingston, Jamaica.

The initiative is designed to strengthen connections between Canadian businesses, communities and international markets while making greater use of the airline’s existing passenger operations.

“Flair connects communities across Canada every day, and cargo allows us to extend that connectivity to goods and businesses,” said Len Corrado, CEO of Flair Airlines, in a press release. “As a Canadian airline, we’re proud to support the movement of products across the country, strengthen connections between businesses and communities, and support the Canadian economy.”

Partnership with ExpAir Cargo & ECS Group

To support the new operation, Flair has partnered with ExpAir Cargo, working alongside ECS Group, to oversee cargo sales and day-to-day logistics.

The partnership brings established cargo expertise, operational infrastructure and sales capabilities to Flair’s expanding business.

“Canada depends on strong transportation connections to move goods between communities and markets,” said Jimmy Dulku, director of strategic opportunities & business development, in a statement.

“By using available capacity on our existing passenger network, Flair can help Canadian businesses move products efficiently across the country while strengthening connections with the international markets we serve.”

Making Use of Existing Aircraft Capacity

Rather than introducing dedicated freighter aircraft, Flair will transport shipments in the belly holds of its passenger aircraft on select flights, subject to available weight and capacity.

The approach allows the airline to accommodate commercial shipments using aircraft already operating across its scheduled network.

Flair confirmed that passenger baggage allowances will remain unchanged under the new cargo program.

Additional information about the service is available at cargo.flyflair.com.
