Bermuda’s Tourism Transformation Takes Centre Stage at 2025 Partners Summit

Bermuda’s Tourism Transformation Takes Centre Stage at 2025 Partners Summit

Lamar Caines, Director of Data Strategy & Insights, BTA, speaks to attendees Monday morning in Bermuda.

The 2025 Bermuda International Partners Summit marks a defining moment in the island’s tourism evolution, as major hotel redevelopments signal a new era of growth and opportunity for the destination.

Leading the transformation are large-scale redevelopment projects at the Grove Bay Hotel and Fairmont Southampton, both set to significantly expand Bermuda’s room inventory, increasing overall capacity by more than 25% by 2026.

According to the Bermuda Tourism Authority (BTA), these strategic investments are key to a broader vision to reimagine Bermuda’s visitor experience and open new avenues for collaboration with global partners.

“This gathering marks an important moment in our island’s tourism journey,” William Griffith, Acting Chair the BTA told attendees on Monday. “It’s a renewed opportunity to unlock Bermuda’s future through partnership renewal and growth. We are thrilled to host our global trade partners this week for meaningful dialogue and shared vision.”

Griffith added: “Bermuda’s tourism sector stands at a very pivotal point today. After a period of transformation, we are now positioned to embrace new opportunities and reimagine or approach the sustainable growth. The coming years, we’ll see the most significant expansion in our visitor accommodation in over a decade.”

Supporting this evolution, the Government of Bermuda continues to strengthen the investment climate through initiatives like the Tourism Investment Act (2017), which provides a framework for sustainable development and offers tax relief for small and medium-sized tourism businesses, including locally owned ventures.

“The 2017 tourism investment act stimulates investment in Bermuda’s tourism sector, the industry integral to our economy and cultural identity,” said The Honourable Tinee Furbert, JP, MP, Minister of Youth, Social Development & Seniors and Acting Minister of Tourism.

“We’ve supported our hoteliers and industry related businesses with significant concessions to encourage the development of exciting new attractions and extended support to tourism entrepreneurs to elevate the experiences for our guests. These measures are designed to reduce barriers to investments, enhance our competitiveness and ensure that tourism development supports Bermuda’s long-term prosperity.”

With enhanced infrastructure, strategic partnerships, and a clear focus on innovation, Bermuda is positioning itself as a vibrant and accessible destination for Canadian travellers.

“This summit this week exemplifies that evolution, collaboration, innovation and action together, we will strengthen Bermuda’s Global Connections and reaffirm our shared commitment to making Bermuda the most desirable Island destination in the world,” adds Griffith.
