Goway’s Newest Greece Tour is Inspired by Homer’s Odyssey
by Bruce Parkinson
Goway’s new 10-day Odysseus’s Journey: The Peloponnese & Ionian Isles traces the long path home of Ithacan King Odysseus, hero of Homer’s legendary epic poem, The Odyssey.
Starting in Athens and ending on Odysseus’s home island of Ithaki (Ithaca), the itinerary explores many of the historical sites of Homer’s epics:
- The ancient capital of Nafplio and Mycenae, the seat of Agamemnon, legendary leader of the Greeks during the Trojan War.
- The ruins of Nestor’s Palace, where Odysseus’s son Telemachus ventured to learn of his father’s fate.
- The Ionian Sea off Corfu, where Odysseus sailed on his ill-fated journey home.
- The rugged cliffs of Lefkada on Ithaki (Ithaca) where travellers will visit archaeological sites linked to the legendary king and his family.
“Greece is extraordinary on its own: the history, mythology, and ancient ruins speak for themselves,” says Reesa Avelino, VP, Europe South at Goway.
“But to layer in the story of Odyssey amplifies Greece’s magic in a way that transforms sightseeing into something truly profound. Every stop on this journey is meaningful; every island has a legend. It’s the kind of travel experience that stays with you long after you’ve come home.”
Featuring premium accommodations and private tours, Goway says this journey is tailor-made for history buffs and any fans of the new blockbuster movie.
