Tourism Cares Unveils New Digital Platform for its Expanding Meaningful Travel Map

Tourism Cares Unveils New Digital Platform for its Expanding Meaningful Travel Map

The Tourism Cares Meaningful Travel Map.

Tourism Cares, a global non-profit dedicated to advancing sustainability for the travel and tourism industry, has launched a new digital platform and expanded website for its Meaningful Travel Map.

The Map features nearly 800 smaller, community-led businesses across six continents, with plans to significantly scale the platform with new destinations and partners in 2026.

From social enterprises and non-profits to small-scale tour operators, accommodations, and artisans, every organization featured on the Meaningful Travel Map is vetted against clear criteria so users can trust that each experience is helping people and places thrive.

Tourism Cares says the new platform makes it easier for the travel trade and conscious travellers to discover and support impact-driven tourism businesses around the world.

“The Meaningful Travel Map has always been about connecting the heart of travel with the heart of communities,” said Greg Takehara, CEO of Tourism Cares.

“At a time when it can feel harder than ever to identify and support truly sustainable options, this new platform gives travel professionals and travellers a simple, hopeful way forward. Every time someone uses the Map, they are choosing experiences that protect our planet, honour local culture, and sustain the people who welcome us. That is the kind of tourism our industry, and our world, needs more of right now.”

Designed as both a functional itinerary builder for travel trade professionals and an inspiration hub for curious explorers, the new Map offers improved filtering, curated itineraries, and story-driven profiles that highlight the social, environmental, and economic impact of each featured partner.

A local guide from Panama educates a group of visitors about Panama’s biodiversity on the El Tragon Trail in Achiote, Panama.

The new version of the Meaningful Travel Map moves beyond static listings to offer:

  • Interactive map-based discovery: Travellers can find impact-driven experiences at a glance across the globe.
  • Stories behind every experience: Listings highlight the people, communities, and impact behind each business or organization, helping travel professionals and travellers feel more connected and confident in their choices.
  • Smooth, mobile-friendly browsing: The platform is designed for quick loading and simple navigation on any device, making it easy to go from inspiration to action.
  • Practical tools for the travel trade: Call-to-action buttons, filters, destination maps, and itinerary tools help tour operators and advisors quickly add vetted sustainable suppliers into their planning process.

Tourism Cares is inviting travel companies, advisors, and destination partners to explore the new platform and consider how the Meaningful Travel Map can be integrated into product development, advisory planning, and destination marketing to help travellers choose journeys that actively benefit people and the planet.
