Multi-Million Renovations Begin at Antigua’s Carlisle Bay

Antigua’s premier resort, Carlisle Bay, has launched a multimillion-dollar renovation project, with all phases expected to be completed by November 2027.
One of the Leading Hotels of the World, Carlisle Bay in Antigua has started a multi-million dollar renovation that’s expected to be completed in November 2027. The overhaul will see new guest suites, public areas, dining venues and spa and will be done during regular seasonal closure periods.
With over 60% of Antigua’s GDP attributed to tourism, the resort’s upgraded facilities aim to attract a greater share of international travellers—particularly from key markets including Canada. It is anticipated that the renovations will increase Carlisle Bay’s revenue by more than 20%, while also boosting occupancy levels—generating greater support for local businesses and creating additional job opportunities within the community.
“We are excited to usher in the next chapter for Carlisle Bay, where each space will reflect our deep commitment to offering an authentic island experience, with a seamless blend of elegance and comfort,”said Cara Doherty, part of the ownership group for Carlisle Bay. “The phased renovation allows us to remain true to our vision whilst providing a refreshed experience for all our guests.”
Phase one will focus on just over half of the resort’s 87 suites, with a full refurbishment of the Ocean, Bay, and Garden Suites which are all located directly on the bay. They will be under construction during the summer closure period and be ready to open when the resort reopens for the season in October 2025.
Phase Two will refurbish the Beach Balcony Suites, Beach Terrace Suites and Carlisle Suites which will complete the room categories portion of the overall project, due to take place during summer closure period 2026.
The final phase will see Carlisle Bay’s multiple dining venues and CARA Organic Spa undergo their own reimagining and are estimated to be completed by 2027. Leading the design vision for the suites is London based designer Miminat Shodeinde of Miminat Designs.
