Collette is reaffirming its commitment to responsible, ethical, and conservation‑minded travel experiences with the launch of its updated Animal Welfare Policy and a new Animal Welfare Toolkit designed to guide all teams across the organization.

The enhanced policy ensures that all animal-related experiences featured on tour meet the highest standards of safety, ethical treatment and responsible tourism. The new toolkit offers clear, practical guidance for Tour Managers, Product teams, Sales professionals and internal stakeholders, helping them confidently deliver experiences that prioritize animal welfare and reinforce Collette’s ongoing commitment to protecting wildlife and working animals worldwide.

“Travel has the power to inspire deep respect for the natural world,” said Melissa Snape, Head of Corporate Citizenship at Collette. “Our travellers trust us to curate experiences that celebrate wildlife without causing harm. These updates ensure we continue to deliver meaningful encounters that prioritize animals, support local communities, and reflect our values as a responsible tour operator.”

To ensure alignment with Collette’s Animal Welfare Policy, the following activities are strictly prohibited and may not be recommended, facilitated, or promoted by any Collette team member:

  • Purchasing wildlife-based souvenirs, including ivory, coral, animal skins, bones, teeth, or feathers
  • Touching, feeding, petting, or handling wild animals in any way,
  • Includes forced photo ops and wild animal “walks”
  • Elephant interactions such as washing, petting, feeding, or riding
  • Businesses that keep wild animals as pets or use them for entertainment
  • Rodeos or bullfighting events, where animals are provoked or harmed
