Great Rail Journeys has announced a new collection of premium escorted vacations that combine epic train adventures with luxury accommodations, exclusive experiences, and small group tours.

Formerly Vacations by Rail, Great Rail Journeys is a provider of packaged rail travel. The company has been in operation since 1973, and is known for its escorted and independent journeys. Although its headquarters are in the U.K., the rail tour operator has been making moves to better position itself in the U.S. market in recent years — most notably, this past summer, Great Rail Journeys joined the USTOA as an active member.

Dubbed the Landmark Collection, the new portfolio of rail journeys spans Europe, Canada, Africa, and the United Kingdom. Each Landmark journey is guided by a tour manager, and the price includes rail transportation, accommodations, luggage handling, tours and activities, and select meals. Guests can look forward to privately chartered train cars, stays at iconic properties like the Fairmount Banff Springs, and unique experienes, such as a tour of Kensington Palace with Princess Diana’s former butler.

The collection is careful to pair each itinerary with eleveated rail travel. For the Premium Canada Coast to Coast journey, travelers board a Rocky Mountaineer train, where they will enjoy the Goldleaf service level (pictured above). In Europe, the Orient Express & Luxury Rhône Cruise journey combines the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express with a luxury Belmond River cruise for just 12 guests.

“The most memorable journeys change the way we see a destination,” said Dave Riley, CEO of Great Rail Journeys. “With Landmark, we’ve brought together the experiences travelers often dream about, from iconic trains and remarkable hotels to meaningful moments that connect them more deeply with the places they visit. These are the kinds of journeys that stay with you long after you’ve returned home.”

Highlights of the Landmark Collection include:

  • Premium Glacier Express: Switzerland’s Alpine Icons (eight days)
  • Premium Canada Coast to Coast Tour (17 days)
  • Orient Express & Luxury Rhône Cruise (10 days)
  • Grand Tour of South Africa Tour (17 days)
  • Premium London & Scotland (seven days)
