TICO is taking applications for roles on its industry and consumer councils.
The Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO) is warning consumers that Ottawa-based Jo Albe Travel Co Inc. is not registered with TICO and is not authorized to sell travel services in Ontario.
In March 2026, charges were laid against Jo Albe Travel Co Inc., along with directors Riham Chakron and Jomaa Albelaas. It is alleged they have continued to operate without registration, despite being informed of their obligations under the Travel Industry Act, 2002.
TICO has received consumer complaints alleging that Jo Albe Travel Co Inc. has been acting as a travel agent without being registered. It is alleged that consumers paid Jo Albe Travel Co Inc. for travel services that were not provided, and that refunds were not issued.
TICO has issued an Immediate Cease and Desist Notice to Jo Albe Travel Co Inc., as well as its directors, ordering them to immediately stop acting or holding themselves out as travel agents in Ontario.
Travel agencies, booking websites and tour operators must be registered with TICO to sell travel services in Ontario. Booking with a TICO-registered business provides access to important consumer protections, including the Ontario Travel Industry Compensation Fund.
TICO prosecutes unregistered companies and individuals to help protect consumers, maintain confidence in Ontario’s travel marketplace and support a level playing field for registered businesses.
