Marriott Offers Members Discounted Rates Through Booking Direct
by Jessica Montevago /Marriott International is rolling out an exclusive discount for its Marriott Rewards members when they book direct or through select corporate travel professionals.
It’s part of the company’s “It Pays to Book Direct” campaign, a move that aims to reinforce the idea that guests get the best rate by booking direct, through its website or a travel agent. Discounted member rates will become available April 11.
Marriott did not specify how much the promotion is for or which agents exactly qualify as “select” corporate travel professionals.
Hilton launched a similar ad campaign last month, which offered Hilton HHonors members a discount of 10% off the best available rate through its website or “approved” travel agent. Travel Market Report reached out to Hilton to get a clarification of the phrase “approved travel agent,” but representatives declined to comment. The American Society of Travel Agents, however, applauded the campaign for recognizing agents.
