JW Marriott Costa Elena Resort & Spa has just opened, marking the luxury hotel brand’s first-ever all-inclusive resort in the world.
News of the Costa Rica property comes as many luxury brands, such as Hilton’s Waldorf Astoria, are shifting to all-inclusive concepts in the Caribbean and Latin America. Bruce Rohr, vice president and global brand leader for JW Marriott, said the opening “introduces a new expression of the JW Marriott brand.”
“We saw an opportunity to reimagine what an all-inclusive experience can be through the lens of JW Marriott, where thoughtful design, enriching experiences, and intuitive service come together to create a more intentional way to travel,” Rohr said. “The result is a resort that invites guests to slow down, embrace the beauty of the present moment, and leave feeling renewed by both the destination and the experiences they shared while there.”
Notably, the property marks the debut of JW Marriott’s new Griffin Club, an elevated resort-within-a-resort experience, and the brand’s first-ever Mindfulness House. JW Marriott Costa Elena Resort & Spa also features 415 guest rooms with a villa-inspired, residential feel, Costa Rica’s largest poolscape, and 15 dining venues.
Guests staying in Griffin Club suites have access to an exclusive lounge and concierge, dedicated pool and beach area, and priority access to dining reservations and pool cabanas. In addition to the Mindfulness House, the resort has a selection of Mindful Rooms and Suites, the Spa by JW, and a fitness center.
The property’s Family by JW club offers a wide range of activities for kids and their families. For adults, there is also robust adventure, cultural, and wellness programming rooted in the destination. Plus, a weekly night market brings together local artisans, traditional cuisine, live music, dance, and storytelling to celebrate the Guanacaste region.
