Trailborn Debuts on West Coast with California Property

Trailborn Hotels & Resorts has just debuted on the West Coast with the opening of Hill House at Trailborn Mendocino. 

This marks the first of two properties that will make up Trailborn Mendocino, with a second opening in 2027. Trailborn renovated and reopened the former Hill House Inn and will now do the same with The Mendocino Hotel. Hill House at Trailborn Mendocino has 44 rooms, and the second property will have 45, making Trailborn Mendocino an 89-room hotel when completed.

Trailborn Mendocino is perched above the Pacific Ocean and overlooks Mendocino Village. Its surrounding landscape includes a rugged coastline, redwood forest, and nearby vineyards. The public spaces create an indoor-outdoor experience centered around hearth lounges and garden-facing seating. There is also a Cabot Cove Detective Library that pays homage to the hit television series “Murder, She Wrote,” which was filmed on the property. 

The hotel offers programming such as guided adventures, fireside activities, live music, picnics, and wine tastings. Off-site excursions can include kayaking, horseback riding, winery tours, and more.  

For food and beverage, the property features Hill House Wine & Grocer for grab-and-go provisions and Pizza Standard Time for wood-fired pizza, seasonal dishes, cocktails, and desserts. The property also has one of Mendocino’s largest and most versatile meeting and event spaces that span both indoors and outdoors. 

Trailborn, part of Marriott’s Outdoor Collection, also recently opened a hotel in Jackson Hole.
