New Ships, More Immersive Experiences for Emerald 2027 Europe River Program

by Marsha Mowers  April 06, 2026
New Ships, More Immersive Experiences for Emerald 2027 Europe River Program

An Emerald Star-Ship on one of Europe’s waterways.

Emerald Cruises & Tours has released its 2027 Europe River Cruises brochure, featuring two new ships and more immersive experiences, new itineraries and an extended sailing calendar that’s designed to support year-round demand and shoulder-season travel.

The cruise line says the 2027 program offers more overnight stays and later departures on select sailings and the extended season, now running from February through December, creates new opportunities to promote shoulder- and off-peak travel, including spring and late-autumn departures.

New itineraries include:

  • 11-day Douro Highlights: Porto, Salamanca & the Wine Valley (round-trip Porto; June–October 2027)
Showcasing Portugal and Spain’s Douro region, this itinerary combines UNESCO-listed cities, vineyard landscapes and curated wine experiences. Overnight stays in each port allow for a more in-depth and flexible exploration pace.
  • 8-day Sensations of the Seine & Normandy (round-trip Paris; March–October 2027)
A classic Seine sailing featuring key ports such as Honfleur and Rouen, alongside culturally significant sites including the D-Day beaches and Giverny. Overnight calls provide extended access to regional culinary and cultural experiences.
  • 14-day Waterways of the Netherlands & Belgium with Copenhagen (Amsterdam to Copenhagen; March 2027)
This longer itinerary connects the historic canal networks of the Netherlands and Belgium with a northern European extension to Copenhagen, blending heritage, sustainability and contemporary city experiences.

Fleet expansion will see the addition of two new Star-Ships, bringing Emerald Cruises’ European fleet to 11 vessels:

  • Emerald Nova will operate on Portugal’s Douro River alongside Emerald Radiance, supporting an expanded program with new itinerary variations. The 80-metre vessel will accommodate up to 110 guests across 55 staterooms and suites.
  • Emerald Lumi will debut on the Seine, purpose-built for the river to optimize access to high-demand ports such as Paris, Rouen and Honfleur, enhancing shore excursion flexibility.
