Travelers now can stay in a “wellness” hotel room at select Marriott properties across the United States.
For an extra $30 a night, Marriott’s new “Stay Well” rooms offer air purifiers, organic mattresses and anti-microbial countertops, as well as circadian mood lighting, aromatherapy and vitamin C-infused showers for healthier hair and skin.
Stay Well guests will also get access to a Stay Well app, which has a meditation-training podcast; an innovative jet-lag tool; and sleep, nutrition and stress-management programs developed by Cleveland Clinic.
The program, developed by Delos, first launched at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas in October 2012. It is now being expanded to six Marriott properties: Charlotte Marriott City Center, Atlanta Marriott Marquis, Richmond Marriott Short Pump, Residence Inn Orlando Lake Nona, Courtyard Orlando Lake Nona and Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina.
InterContinental Hotels Group in 2012 rolled out a health-conscious hotel brand called Even, which features nutritious menu items and boutique gym-style workout classes. Wyndham’s brand Tryp has “fitness rooms” at some of its hotels, with each room containing an exercise mat and a treadmill, elliptical machine or stationary bike.
