A large-scale transformation of The Westin Resort & Spa Puerto Vallarta is underway, and when completed, it will become The Westin Resort & Spa Playa Vallarta, an All-Inclusive Resort.
More than just a subtle name change, the property has been undergoing a multi-million-dollar renovation for the past year and will emerge as The Westin brand’s first all-inclusive resort in Mexico in May 2026.
“We are thrilled to witness the next chapter in the evolution of our iconic resort in Playa Vallarta, an unparalleled all-inclusive destination awaiting customers beginning May 2026,” said Hugo Lecanda, general manager of Westin Puerto Vallarta. “Whether seeking a romantic escape, a corporate retreat or to unwind and reconnect with friends and family, our reimagined resort will continue to deliver the same award-winning service our guests know and love – enhanced by our exciting new all-inclusive offerings.”
The Westin Playa Vallarta is located just minutes from the Puerto Vallarta International Airport and situated on 14 acres of lush, tropical land overlooking the Pacific Ocean and near Marina Vallarta.
The reimagined beach resort will feature 281 suites, including 30 private plunge pool suites and 16 swim-up rooms. It will also have 10 new dining and entertainment venues, plus new immersive cultural and wellness experiences. The renovations also extend to the refreshed pools, new pickleball and padel courts, and upgraded WestinWORKOUT® Fitness and Heavenly Spa. The resort has both adults-only and family-friendly spaces.
The transformation comes as Marriot International dives deeper into the all-inclusive space across many of its brands in the Caribbean and Latin America region. Most recently, W Punta Cana, the first all-inclusive for the W brand, opened last month.
