Forbes Names 42 New Five-Star Hotels
by Jessica Montevago /Forbes Travel Guide named 42 new hotels as Five-Star properties, a coveted distinction Forbes has been giving top properties for the past 58 years. There are now 154 Five-Star hotels on the list, the most in Forbes history.

Two new restaurants (Addison at Fairmont Grand Del Mar in San Diego and Volver in Philadelphia) and two spas (The Spa at Fairmont Grand Del Mar in San Diego and Waldorf Astoria Spa in Shanghai) also received Five-Star awards. Four-Stars were given to 100 hotels, upping the total to 410.
Ratings are determined by Forbes inspectors, who evaluate properties on the condition of the facilities and quality of service. Properties in 29 countries are rated; Forbes said it plans to expand into the Middle East and Africa next year.
