Elite Island Resorts has appointed Kari Tarnowski to the newly created role of chief commercial officer, welcoming her back after an absence of eight years. She previously led the company’s marketing as chief marketing officer, from 2013 to 2017.

In the newly created role, Tarnowski will oversee all North American marketing, sales, revenue, and communications strategy across Elite Island Resorts’ portfolio, which comprises seven resorts in Antigua, Barbados, and Panama.

“We are very excited about Kari’s return to the Caribbean and our executive leadership team,” said Larry Basham, chief operating officer (COO) of Elite Island Resorts. “Kari’s depth of commercial expertise and outstanding reputation are a perfect fit as we continue to elevate Elite’s position as a leader in Caribbean hospitality.”

Tarnowski brings more than 25 years of experience in hospitality marketing and brand strategy and has previously held senior leadership positions at Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Crytal Cruises, Sandals Resorts and, most recent, at the newly re-launched Victory Cruise Lines.

“We are delighted to welcome Kari Tarnowski back to the Caribbean and congratulate her on her new role as Chief Commercial Officer,” said Colin C. James, CEO of the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority. “Kari has long been an enthusiast of our twin-island nation, and her return feels like welcoming back a dear friend. We are excited to continue building on the strong partnership we share with Elite, and we look forward to working hand-in-hand with Kari to further showcase the warmth, beauty, and unforgettable experiences of Antigua and Barbuda”

“Elite Island Resorts and the island of Antigua are synonymous and have always held a special place in my career,” Tarnowski said.  “I look forward to re-joining this talented team to carry out Elite’s vision and continue building upon the legacy of founder Sir Robert A. Barrett.”
