LXR Hotels & Resorts, a luxury brand by Hilton, is coming to the premier Japan hot spring destination of Hakone.
Hilton just signed on the property, which, in agreement with SANKEI BUILDING and HASEKO Real Estate Development, is expected to open in 2028 and will mark Hilton’s Hakone debut.
“Hakone is an iconic onsen destination and bringing LXR Hotels & Resorts here marks an exciting new chapter for Hilton in Japan,” said Joseph Khairallah, area vice president and head of Japan, Korea & Micronesia at Hilton. “Together with SANKEI BUILDING and HASEKO Real Estate Development, we will create a retreat that is deeply inspired by the area’s local culture and natural surroundings. Paired with personalized service, the hotel will deliver an elevated experience rooted in Japan’s natural beauty and onsen culture.”
The property will be nature-immersive, located in the heart of scenic Hakone Gora, which is known for its hot springs and fall foliage, and facing a rainforest in Momijidani. The location is also 90 minutes from Tokyo by train; a three-minute walk from Koen-Kami Station on the Hakone Tozan Cable Car line; and walking distance to Hakone Open-Air Museum, the Hakone Museum of Art and Gora Park.
The signing marks LXR Hotels & Resorts’ continued growth in Japan, where the brand debuted in 2021 with ROKU KYOTO, LXR Hotels & Resorts in Kyoto.
