Viceroy will open a new European resort in Portugal in October 2024—the Viceroy at Ombria Algarve. The resort will offer 141 rooms, including suites, within 5.2 hectares that off 360-degree views of the surrounding Algarve hills. It will also offer six different dining venues, each with a focus on local ingredients and dishes, including the Ombria kitchen, an all-day venue that will feature a live cooking station.
Mohegan, the owner of several U.S. casino resorts, including properties in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey, has named Joseph J. Hasson as its new COO. Hasson had been serving as interim COO since April of this year.
Vancouver’s Parkside Hotel & Spa has launched a package exclusively for women going through Menopause called the Radian Renewal Retreat.
Noble Investment Group has acquired the Marriott Jacksonville Beach Oceanfront resort and announced plans for a “comprehensive” renovation that will touch all guestrooms, suites, public areas, and meeting spaces.
Wynn Las Vegas is partnering with “Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan and Four Sixes Ranches Steakhouse to launch pop-ups of the restaurant at the Wynn this September. The menu will focus on prime steaks and cuts from the ranch, along with a “showstopping” Caviar Tower. The restaurant will pop up nightly at Tableau from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. from Sunday through Thursday and 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
Rosewood Hotel Group is adding a property in the Caribbean called Rosewood Exuma, a private island experience in Exuma, an archipelago of 365 islands in the Bahamas. The resort will sit on a 124-acre private island called East Sampson Cay, offering just 33 suites, along with a 20,000 sq. ft. wellness room.
Luxury villa company Nocturne Luxury Villas has acquired Grand Cayman Villas and Condos, giving Nocturne its first entry into the Cayman Islands. Grand Cayman Villas joins other Nocturne brands, including Exceptional Stays (Telluride, CO), WIMCO St. Barth Properties, CaboVillas.com, Exclusive 30A (Florida’s Emerald Coast), and Paradise Retreats (Santa Barbara, CA).
Marriott has signed an agreement to bring its W Hotels brand to Hangzhou, China. The first W property in the region is currently slated to open in 2031 at the northwest intersection of Minhe Road and Liyi Road in Qianjiang Century City, Hangzhou’s developing new CBD. The hotel will open with 270 rooms, half of them with a direct river view, and two signature restaurants.
Moxy Hotels has opened the Moxy Chongqing, the brand’s debut in Chongqing. The hotel includes 360 guest rooms within walking distance of the city’s People’s Liberation Monument. Each room includes Moxy’s signature Stellar Works foldable desks and chairs, 55-inch flat-screen TVs, walk-in showers, as well as complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi.
Hotel Yellowstone at Jackson Hole, the city’s first and only adults-only hotel, has officially opened its doors. The hotel includes 36 suites housed in clusters across four acres, along with an indoor pool, spa, and Olivia’s Restaurant and Bar. The property is 4.9 miles from Jackson Town Square and pays homage to the American West.
Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead has wrapped up a complete renovation of its 439 guest rooms, including its 21 suites. More renovations are coming later this fall, focusing on the lobby, public, and meeting spaces.
Choice Hotels has opened four new Cambria-branded properties in the U.S.: Niagara Falls, NY; Rehoboth, DE; North Conway, NH; and Denver, CO. Each of the properties offers at least 100 guestrooms.
Raffles Hotels announced plans to bring a new property to Tokyo in 2028. Raffles Tokyo will occupy the top 46 floors of the city’s World Trade Center, offering feature 130 guestrooms, including 27 suites. Outside of accommodations, the property will also include six food and beverage outlets, a fitness studio, a swimming pool, a spa, and a bathhouse.
The Jeddah EDITION has appointed Jeremy Canivet as its new GM. Canivet has over 20 years of experience in hospitality and has worked for brands such as Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, Kempinski, and Ritz-Carlton. Most recently he served as Executive Assistant Manager at The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain.
Four Seasons Nevis is adding new residences to the property. Launching in 2025, the hotel will add 58 new-build one-, two-, and three-bedroom units ranging from 1,725 to 3,730 sq. ft. Residents will have access to all the amenities at Four Seasons Resort Nevis including three pools, pickleball courts, the largest tennis complex in the Caribbean, a newly constructed kids’ splash pad, a complimentary Kids For All Seasons Program, four restaurants, three lounges, and a full-service spa.
Marriott has named Sam Basu as its new area general manager of Puerto Rico. In the role, Basu will oversee the breadth of Marriott’s portfolio on the island and will help lead the re-opening of The Ritz-Carlton San Juan next year. Basu held managerial positions at The Ritz-Carlton, San Juan for 10 years, including the role of executive assistant manager of rooms and F&B.
International soccer superstar Kylian Mbappé and Accor have partnered to launch “Inspire by KM,” which includes awareness activations across Accor group channels, notably via its loyalty and distribution platform, ALL.com.
Park Hyatt Marrakech has officially opened its doors. The hotel sits at the base of the Atlas Mountains on the Al Maaden Golf resort. Outside of its 130, residential-style guestrooms, the hotel also offers a hot-air balloon dining experience and a 23,000 sq. ft. spa. Next up for Park Hyatt in Africa is Park Hyatt Johannesburg, slated for a 2025 opening.
Minor Hotels has named Judd Rabbidge as the new General Manager of the Avani+ Fares Maldives Resort. Rabbidge most recently served as the Hotel Manager at W Sydney, overseeing the pre-opening phase of the world’s largest W Hotel.
So’o Tana has been appointed General Manager of Regency on Beachwalk Waikiki by OUTRIGGER and Waikiki Shore by OUTRIGGER.
Moxy has opened a new Florida hotel, Moxy St. Pete, on Central Avenue near Tropicana Field. The hotel features 63 guest rooms and suites, a rooftop pool deck and poolside bar, a lobby coffee bar, a podcast studio, conference space, and work areas.
Standard International has launched its StandardX brand in Melbourne with The StandardX, Melbourne in Fitzroy. The hotel offers 125 bedrooms, ranging from a Cozy King room to its Suite Spot with unobstructed views of the city skyline. It also includes three different dining venues, along with a rooftop bar.
Hard Rock International is planning a new REVERB by Hard Rock in Pensacola, Fla. that is scheduled to open in 2029. The hotel will be the sixth REVERB property joining Atlanta and Hamburg, and Kalamazoo, Tampa, and Scottsdale also being developed. The Pensacola hotel will feature 125 rooms, a full-service restaurant, a rooftop bar, a lobby bar and lounge, a quick-service restaurant, and a fitness center.
IHG announced that Verno House Budapest, a boutique hotel in Budapest, has joined the Vignette Collection. The hotel sits between the Danube River and Liberty Square and features the Michelin Guide-recommended Flava Kitchen & More restaurant.
