Hyatt is expanding its Hyatt Inclusive Collection (HIC) with the appointment of Javier Águila as the brand’s new president.

Águila will assume the role on March 1, 2025, while continuing his current position as group president, EAME, overseeing Hyatt’s Europe, Africa and Middle East region.

Águila joined Hyatt in a leadership role in 2021 after the company acquired Apple Leisure Group (ALG). Before joining Hyatt, he served as group president of Europe and global strategy at ALG. Prior to ALG, he was CEO and founder of Alua Hotels and Resorts, a Spanish hotel management company.

In his new position, Águila will oversee all aspects of Hyatt’s global all-inclusive business, including development, operations, branding, and commercial performance.

“With our distinct brand portfolios and dedicated leadership, we are strengthening our commitment to delivering experiences that meet the needs of our diverse guest and customer bases,” said Mark Hoplamazian, president and CEO of Hyatt, in the announcement. He added that Águila has a “growth mindset” essential for the Inclusive Collection.

HIC most recently got a boost last October after a deal between Hyatt and Grupo Pinero, owner of Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts, which expanded Hyatt’s all-inclusive portfolio by about 30%. That deal added 23 resorts, totaling over 12,000 rooms, to World of Hyatt in destinations such as Jamaica, Mexico, Dominican Republic, and Spain.

HIC, which spoke to TMR earlier this year, has also seen a big buzz around its growth in Europe with resorts such as Dreams Madeira Resort, Spa & Marina in Portugal, which opened in October 2024.
