The Big Apple’s newest hotel opened its doors on Monday when Le Méridien New York, Fifth Avenue, the second Le Méridien property in the city, officially opened.

The 21-story hotel adds 165 guestrooms, along with 17 apartment-style residences for longer stays, to Fifth Avenue between West 30th and West 31st. Its location is within walking distance of some of New York’s most notable attractions, including the Empire State Building.

The hotel was designed by Gene Kaufman Architect, who built it with a light-colored masonry façade. The inside was designed by Paul Vega and Vennie Lau of New Jersey-based design studio VLDG, who designed the interior to “pay homage to the neighborhood that was dominated by the textile mercantile trade in the 20th century.”

That includes bold geometric patterns, contrasting colors, and textured fabrics in the hotel’s design scheme and iconic New York City cultural elements and modern, mid-century design details.

Each room includes the Le Méridien signature bed, 4K smart TVs, an elevated desk, and more.

The hotel includes a couple of eateries on property including Le Méridien Hub, which offers some custom-brewed coffee drinks during the day; Latitude/Longitude Bar, which offers cocktails in the evening; Allora, an all-day restaurant that serves regional Italian aperitivi and fare including its signature Miller’s Wife Pasta.

Le Méridien also has a property in Central Park—Le Méridien New York Central Park at 120 West 57th Street.
