Mandarin Oriental this week is welcoming some of its first-ever guests to the new Mandarin Oriental Palace, Luzern, the company’s newest property.

The hotel sits on the shores of Lake Lucerne, just a stone’s throw from the city’s old town, giving guests unrivaled views of the Swiss Alps. Built inside a landmark Belle Époque building that was originally built in 1906, the hotel’s design was centered on bringing that outside environment inside.

In total, the hotel offers 136 guest rooms, including 48 of Lucerne’s largest suites. The rooms range from the standard Superior Room to a Superior Lake View Room with Terrace, to a Panoramic Rooftop Terrace, and the Presidential Suite, its top offering.

For food and drink, the hotel offers four different eateries all designed by Executive Chef Gilad Peled who worked with Gordon Ramsay in his Michelin-starred restaurants in London and New York—the MOzern Bar & Brasserie, which offers a menu of international food and drink; the Mediterranean-themed Quai 10; the French-themed Colonnade; and the Japanese-themed Minamo, which will open in the first quarter of next year.

The hotel also includes a Mandarin Oriental signature spa.
