Intrepid Group Highlights Yearlong Tour At Adventure Travel Expo
by Jessica Montevago /Adventure travel doesn’t have to mean a dangerous bungee jump, says Nick Shuttleworth. Rather, “it should be defined by each person individually. Just jump in the deep end when you go to a new destination.”
Shuttleworth, vice president of sales for the Americas of the Intrepid Group, was the keynote at last night’s Adventure Travel Dinner & Expo, hosted by Long Island ASTA and NACTA.
For the ultimate experience in adventure travel, he suggested Intrepid Group’s new Ultimate 365-Day Adventure tour, which takes travelers to 35 countries across five continents. The first group, which departed in February, started in Bangkok, worked its way across Southeast Asia, then headed to Africa, made a stop at the ice-covered Antarctic Peninsula, and ended in the Americas. For $75,000, the trip includes internal airfare, accommodations, most meals (204 breakfasts, 139 lunches, and 140 dinners to be exact), and 150 activities and excursions.
Shuttleworth said the largest growing market for the Australian-based company is in the United States; the company is looking forward to working with agents here.
Intrepid Group has several brands under its umbrella. Intrepid Tours focuses on small groups with basic accommodations. Those looking for a more luxurious experience can travel with Peregrine Adventures, which includes four-star stays and private transportation. Urban Adventures is the company’s day-trip brand, perfect for those looking to squeeze in some sightseeing during a layover or business trip.
