Michael Schottey
Michael Schottey, ASTA’s vice president of membership, marketing, and communications, is no longer with the organization.
ASTA – the American Society of Travel Advisors – held many events where Schottey played a central role for the past three years. He MCed at ASTA Legislative Day, led meetings at ASTA Travel Advisor Conference, and more, including at last week’s conference in San Diego. Day to day, Schottey led ASTA’s public relations, marketing, and member communications teams. He announced his departure from ASTA in a LinkedIn post on June 2.
“I am so proud of the work we accomplished over the past three-plus years and have great respect for the team,” Schottey told Travel Market Report. “I can’t wait to see what they accomplish as I also look forward to my next chapter.”
Zane Kerby, ASTA’s president and CEO, issued a letter to members on June 3 addressing Schottey’s departure, saying that ASTA’s member support, marketing, and communications work “will continue without interruption.”
“I know Michael worked closely with many members, chapter leaders, and industry partners during his time with ASTA, and we appreciate the contributions he made to the organization over the past several years,” Kerby said. “As with any transition, our priority is ensuring continuity for our members, partners, and staff. We have a strong team in place, and I remain confident in their ability to serve our members and advance ASTA’s mission.”
Kerby added that because it is a personnel matter, he could not discuss the circumstances of Schottey’s departure in detail but is available to address specific questions about how the change affects members’ business.
