Intrepid to Offer 4 New Morocco Trips in 2024
by Briana Bonfiglio /Intrepid Travel will introduce four brand-new trips in Morocco in 2024.
The tour operator has partnered with the Moroccan National Tourism Office (MNTO) to create the new excursion packages with the goal of increasing tourism to the country.
“We are thrilled to be launching this new partnership with MNTO, investing more in the development of tourism in my home country,” said Hala Benkhaldoun, Morocco General Manager for Intrepid Travel. “Morocco is an extremely special place – one that more of the world should have the chance to see.”
One of the new trips is an 8-day walking and hiking tour called Trekking in Morocco: Happy Valley in High Atlas. It will take travelers up the country’s third largest peak by foot, past waterfalls, ancient ruins, and vegetation, while educating them about the natives who inspired the name Happy Valley.
Intrepid is launching two other 8-day trips and one 5-day trip. One Week in Morocco: Sahara & Atlas Mountains offers a bit more variety of mountainside and city experiences curated for 18- to 29-year-olds. Classic Morocco offers a bit more of a relaxing week, including camping among sand dunes, visits to historic ruins, dining at a local teahouse, and some hiking.
The 5-day trip, Mt. Toubkal Long Weekend, takes travelers climbing North Africa’s highest summit, where there will be views of the High Atlas Mountain Range, the Sahara, and the Atlantic Coast. Following their guide, the trekkers will spend a night in a mountain refuge and eat homemade meals from locals along the journey.
In addition to the new trips, Intrepid is adding new experiences to its existing Morocco trips. The Morocco Uncovered package will now include the M’goun Valley Henna Ceremony, where travelers will learn about the history and significance of henna tattoos and receive their own designs. A local art excursion will also be added to the Premium Morocco tour.
Intrepid says that Morocco tours have grown in popularity recently and the country is now one of its top-selling destinations globally. The company’s three-year partnership with MNTO has set goals not only to boost tourism but to give back to Morocco’s High Atlas Foundation through the Intrepid Foundation, the company’s philanthropic arm that donates to one of 22 non-profits for every trip booked.
