Caribbean experience and tour operator Island Routes announced today that many of its signature Jamaica experiences have reopened, following Hurricane Melissa.

The tourism industry in Jamaica was heavily impacted by the tropical storm, with many key players like Sandals Resorts needing to temporarily shut down in order to properly assess for damage and allow for critical infrastructure, like power and water, to be reinstated.

As of Dec. 6, 2025, Island Routes will resume its powerboat and catamaran tours in Negril and Ocho Rios, and aims to re-launch its MINI-Routes “Drive Your Own” Adventures, which allow guests to explore the island with an expert guide.

Islands Routes also stated that several of its ATV adventures and river tours are already back in operation on select days. Currently, some routes are temporarily modified for safety and enjoyment.

Guests in Ocho Rios, which was not as heavily impacted by the hurricane, can also enjoy Mystic Mountain and Dunn’s River Falls. Island Routes is also offering its animal encounter experiences (on select days), the Bob Marley culture tours, and Main Street Rose Hall shopping experience.

“We are proud of our team and partners across Jamaica who have worked tirelessly to bring our operations back safely,” said Ryan Terrier, CEO of Island Routes. “The strength and resilience of Jamaica is unmatched. As our experiences come back online, each guest who returns plays a real role in keeping Jamaica’s spirit thriving, all while enjoying the authentic, one-of-a-kind adventures that define us.”
