Trafalgar has announced a new collection of small group tours that aim to give travelers a more personal and immersive guided tour experience.
Trafalgar Small Group Tours is launching with 22 itineraries. Each will have a maximum group size of 18, and will include experiences that would not be possible to have with larger groups — such as special dining experiences with local families and a hands-on, intimate drumming class in South Africa.
The small group tours have been designed to appeal to culturally curious travelers seeking deeper local connections, more intimate accommodations, and experiences that go beyond traditional sightseeing. The itineraries make use of transportation options better suited to smaller groups, such as trains, private transfers, and local transit.
According to Trafalgar, the collection was created to give travel advisors more options to match their clients to the right tour. Highlights from the new collection include: San Sebastian and Beyond, which takes travelers from Bordeaux to Bilbao and features an exclusive Be My Guest culinary experience at a family-owned Basque grill house; Wild Encounters of Borneo, where guests meet with the founder of the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre and explore remote rainforest ecosystems by boat; and Best of South Africa, which includes a visit to a traditional Swazi chief’s village and a hands-on drumming class with community members.
“Small group travel is one of the biggest opportunities we’re seeing in guided touring right now and this collection is our answer to that,” said Melissa DaSilva, deputy CEO and chief sales officer, TTC Tour Brands. “These trips are designed for a different type of traveler than a classic tour. Someone who seeks experiences that bring travelers even closer to the people, places and stories that make a destination real. For advisors, that means a new way to serve clients who are looking for something more personal without losing the Trafalgar signature experiences and support they know and trust.”
