After a 40-year travel industry career, with most of those years as Vice President, Canada for  Travel Leaders Network, Christine James will retire from her role effective October 30.

The veteran leader is a familiar face to travel advisors and other industry members across the country. TLN currently represents approximately 5,700 travel agency locations across Canada and the U.S. and describes itself as North America’s largest network of professional travel agencies. 

The network gives independent travel agencies and advisors the buying power, supplier relationships, technology, marketing and training resources of a much larger organization.

“Christine’s impact over these past 27 years has been felt across many areas of our organization,” said TLN President Lindsay Pearlman in a note to Canadian members and supplier partners.

“Her dedication to membership recruitment, member services, and the development of strong partner relationships has helped shape the foundation of Travel Leaders Network in Canada,” Pearlman added.

In her role as VP Canada, James’ responsibilities include overseeing all aspects of the Canadian operation including business development, industry relations, marketing, technology, education and training & public relations. She manages a team which includes Canadian Business Development Managers & a Marketing Account Manager.

On her LinkedIn profile, James writes: “With over 40 years of travel industry experience, I’ve played key roles in several aspects of the business including industry relations, marketing, business development and operations.”

Prior to joining TLN,, James held positions with organizations such as American Express Travel, Travel Trust International and Vacation.com. She studied travel and tourism at Toronto’s Centennial College.

“Please join me in thanking Christine for her service, leadership, and countless contributions over the past two decades. We wish her all the best as she begins this exciting new chapter,” Pearlman said.
