Bahia Principe Updates Travel Agent Loyalty Program

by Jessica Montevago  February 22, 2018
Bahia Principe Updates Travel Agent Loyalty Program

Luxury Bahia Principe Samana in the Dominican Republic

Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts has upgraded their travel partner loyalty program, allowing agents to collect more reward points – and in turn, more free-night stays.

A 1,000-point bonus will be given to new agents that register for Bahia Principe Rewards, and the option to redeem complimentary stays will not only include the brand’s Caribbean properties but also their Spain hotels.

“We rely on the travel agent community to achieve our goals. We seek to bolster our relationships with our valued partners and create a collaborative dynamic where agents can serve as brand ambassadors and have access to the tools they need to effectively communicate our brand differentiators,” said Helen Montijano, vice president of sales and marketing for the U.S. and Canada.

“We updated the program because we felt there was a missing piece when it came to showing our appreciation to our partners, and we now hope to reaffirm that commitment with these added incentives and opportunities for recognition.”

The updated rewards program also offers travel partners the chance to collect more points when taking online courses (200 points) or securing referrals (150 points). Agents can now receive double points during specific sales periods, such as Bahia Principe’s Happiness Sale.

The Spain-based company recently rebranded its portfolio into four categories: Luxury Bahia Principe, including the brand’s most luxurious hotels; Grand Bahia Principe, featuring five-star hotels; Sunlight Bahia Principe, for all Spain-based properties; and Fantasia Bahia Principe, a family-friendly concept.

Luxury and Fantasia bookings garner 125 points per room per night, while Grand and Sunlight bookings receive 100 points nightly. Bahia Principe modified the previous requirement of securing a three-night minimum so that all stays and bookings – regardless of the length of stay – will warrant rewards points.

Agents who earn points through the program can now redeem their rewards in a variety of ways, including complimentary stays at Bahia Principe properties located in the Caribbean, Canary Islands, and Mallorca, Spain; excursion discounts of up to USD $75; free private airport transfers; spa treatments in Bahia Spa; golf vouchers to tee off at the brand’s courses, Bahia Principe La Romana Golf Club and Bahia Principe Riviera Maya Golf Club; and complimentary dinners for two.

The program’s agent rankings system will now recognize agents on a bi-monthly basis, and top-performing partners will be eligible to win iPhones, iPads and complimentary stays. An annual grand ranking will occur at the end of each year.

The news comes as the hotelier continues its global expansion. This year, the company will open a new-build property off the coast of Spain in Tenerife, adding to its portfolio of 25 five-star properties.

Bahia Principe has been seeing “incredible growth in the North American market,” thanks to a commitment to quality and a focus on branding, as well as a highly successful awards program for travel agents launched in 2017 “to say thank you for your support,” Montijano told TMR earlier this month.
