Paulson Puerto Rico, which owns and operates the hotel, made the announcement this week.
“La Concha Resort has had a long-standing relationship with Marriott, previously forming part of its Renaissance Hotels group for 15 years. Joining Marriott’s Autograph Collection is a huge step forward in La Concha’s legacy as one of Puerto Rico’s premier hotels,” said John Paulson, President of Paulson & Co. “With this partnership, our guests will enjoy new levels of luxury and an enhanced guest experience.”
The hotel, which is located in San Juan’s Condado district, has a rich history in San Juan. It was built in 1958 and renovated and reopened in 2007.
It will now undergo another $45 million renovation to its 238 oceanview suites (the hotel offers 473 rooms and suites in total) and will reopen with new restaurants, including Tekka Bar, a high-end sushi restaurant concept by renowned Las Vegas restaurateur Takashi Segawa, and a new five-star spa.
With the move, the hotel will be the first and only Autograph Collection hotel in Puerto Rico.
