Though calls to the 49th State remain level year over year – 1.65 million passengers on 700 sailings in 2023 vs a projected 1.64 million passengers on 696 sailings in 2024 – the demand for Alaska cruises is off the charts.
Some cruise lines are even breaking records with their Alaska bookings. Princess Cruises, for instance, achieved an all-time high in Alaska bookings in Jan. 2024, surpassing any previous January in the cruise line’s history by more than 20%.
Holland America, which achieved its largest-ever wave season bookings week, said that more than 33% of that week’s bookings were for Alaska cruises.
Cunard also told TMR it “had very strong bookings for Alaska,” said Matthew Gleaves, vice president, commercial for Cunard North America.
