Air Canada Joins Other Airlines in Suspending Dubai Flights

Air Canada has suspended its service to and from Dubai as of June 18, due to the ongoing security issue in the Middle East.

The airline said in a statement on their website the suspension is in effect up to and including July 3, 2025, at which time it may be further extended following a safety assessment in consultation with government and other authorities.

Travellers to Dubai International Airport (DXB) on tickets issued on or before June 18, 2025 for a trip between June 22 and July 15, 2025, will be offered travel options including a travel credit or rebooking to a later date when flights resume or rebooking to another Air Canada destination.

Air Canada joins other US and international airlines in the suspension and the Canadian government has issued a red-alert travel warning for Israel, West Bank and the Gaza Strip, Iran, Iraq, Syria and Yemen. Jordan and Lebanon currently are orange (essential travel only) while travellers to neighbouring countries Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia are advised to exercise a high degree of caution.

The suspended flights are in response to an increasingly volatile situation that began unfolding June 21 when the US joined Israel in attacks against Iran, and attacked three Iranian nuclear facilities. The US government issued a “Worldwide Caution” travel advisory for all U.S. citizens traveling outside the U.S.

“There is the potential for demonstrations against U.S. citizens and interests abroad. The Department of State advises U.S. citizens worldwide to exercise increased caution,” the advisory reads.
