JetBlue Grabs Spirit’s Slots at New York’s LaGuardia Airport

JetBlue on Monday announced that it has secured slots for up to 12 more flights at New York’s LaGuardia Airport, filling the gap left by Spirit Airlines, which shut down in May.

In a message sent to team members on Monday, JetBlue revealed plans to move its operations back to Terminal A (the Marine Air Terminal), the historic space Spirit had been utilizing. Terminal A originally served as JetBlue’s home at LGA before the carrier relocated to the airport’s newer facilities years ago.

The terminal is an Art Deco space on the western edge of the airport, widely celebrated for its iconic murals, 1940s aesthetic, and incredibly fast security lines. It was originally built in 1939 to handle Pan American Airways’ “Flying Boats”—the famous Boeing 314 Clippers.

Advisors and travelers shouldn’t expect immediate schedule updates, however; JetBlue noted that actual flight additions from these new LaGuardia slots will not take effect until 2027.
