Last Domino Falls: Air Transat Suspends Cuba Flights Through April 30

by Bruce Parkinson  February 10, 2026
Air Transat

Air Transat tail.

Yesterday evening Transat became the last of the big Canadian operators to announce the suspension of flights to Cuba.

“Due to a jet fuel shortage announced by Cuban authorities and the recent evolution of the situation, Air Transat is temporarily suspending all flights to Cuba until April 30, 2026,” the company said in a website advisory.

“Depending on how the situation evolves, flights to Cuba may resume as early as May 1, 2026. Air Transat will continue to closely monitor developments and will provide timely updates as new information becomes available,” the company said.

Air Transat is in the process of setting up repatriation flights to Canada for those currently in destination.

For customers whose trip has not yet begun, Air Transat will cancel and refund customers to their original method of payment.

Here are some details:

Clients Currently in Cuba

“We understand that this situation may be worrying and want to assure you that our top priority is bringing you home,” Transat said. “We are currently organizing a return plan to Canada, which includes regular flights as well as additional repatriation flights.”

Transat advisors passengers in Cuba to check their emails and the Air Transat mobile app regularly for updates. Onsite representative teams and destination assistance are available by calling 00 80 04 24 33.

Clients with Booked Packages

For clients scheduled to travel between February 11 and April 30, the booking will be automatically cancelled and travellers will be refunded to their original method of payment on file.

Transat says credit card refunds are generally processed within a few days, but depending on  financial institution, it may take up to two weeks for the amount to appear on your client’s account.
