Lufthansa and the trade union UFO, which represents 19,000 members of Lufthansa’s cabin crew including its flight attendants, have reached a deal that will end some frequent travel disruptions for its passengers.

The deal will last at least 36 months and, most notably, includes significant salary increases for UFO members. The deal still has to be approved by committees.

“I am very pleased about the agreement with our collective bargaining partner UFO – for our colleagues in the cabin, who do an outstanding job every day, and also for our guests, who finally have planning security again in this regard when flying with Lufthansa,” Dr. Michael Niggemann, Chief Human Resources Officer and Labor Director of Deutsche Lufthansa AG said in a statement announcing the deal.

“Our goal has always been to find a solution at the negotiating table together with the union. We have now succeeded in doing so,” he added.

Frequent travel disruptions have become the norm for Lufthansa’s passengers recently, with strikes from cabin crew, ground staff, and more regularly affection operations. The deal with UFO, which most recently called for a strike just last month, will help tamper those disruptions, some of which included the cancellations of thousands of flights.

Last month, Lufthansa also reached a deal with the trade union Verdi, representing approximately 20,000 of its ground staff employees.
